I'm a little behind here. The ALA has posted its list of the most challenged books of 2005. Here's the top 10:
1. It's Perfectly Normal by Robie H. Harris
2. Forever by Judy Blume
3. The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
4. The Chocolate War by Robert Cormier
5. Whale Talk by Chris Crutcher
6. Detour for Emmyby Marilyn Reynolds
7. What My Mother Doesn't Know by Sonya Sones
8. Captain Underpants Series by Dav Pilkey
9. Crazy Lady! by Jane Leslie Conly
10. It's So Amazing! by Robie H. Harris
Apparently, the ALA's Office for Intellectual Freedom received over 405 challenges last year. The only issue I have is that I can't seem to find the full list anywhere. I have been all through the website, and still nothing. If anyone knows where I can find it, please let me know.
In the meantime, I have added even more books to my list of those to be reviewed. Time is running out, so I may need to make the "My Take" part of the reviews only a couple of sentences. This would give me just enough time to list all of the books and the reasons for their respective challenges.
